As you know, CAG are running the Fete Games at this year’s Dorridge Day. We’re delighted to have been invited by the Knowle and Dorridge Round Table to take on this challenge. It gives us the opportunity to advertise CAG at a long running community event and raise funds for future CAG events and equipment.
Thank you to the CAG members and parents who have volunteered their time on Sunday. If you are one of those volunteers please read on for all the information you’ll need on the day.
Cameron didn’t seek help and no one – including us and his friends at Uni – knew that he was suffering from depression. We are using Cameron’s Memorial, supported by a grant from the Aviva Community Fund, to produce Cameron’s Coasters, customised drink mats which we will send to universities, local pubs and sports clubs, and other communities to encourage people to get help. The aim is that by putting relevant helpline numbers on coasters, we might catch someone who is vulnerable. We have produced drink mats for Royal Holloway, University of London, where Cameron studied Geology, Churchill College, Cambridge and Edinburgh University and many more; please see the gallery at the bottom of this article. We would also like to talk to companies about using the drink mats at desks in the workplace, and in meeting rooms. Cameron’s Coasters work just as well with a cup of coffee or a glass of water as they do with a pint of beer! As a friend pointed out, they are even handy around the house!

As you know we have been asked by Knowle & Dorridge Round Table to help them with their annual Christmas Santa float collections.
This raises thousands of pounds for local organisations, of which we will be one to benefit in a small way. Read more
We have looked at the activities on offer for this trip and are able to make the following activity changes if participants would like to:
Currently, the program is everyone to do Caving and Weasling on day 1, hike on day 2.
We can change to the following:
- Everyone does a half day of mountain biking on day 1
- In the other half of the day, morning or afternoon, everyone has a choice of weasling or caving, but not both.
So the scenarios are as follows:
- Everyone does a half day of mountain biking with a half day of either weasling or caving
- Everyone does a half day or mountain biking with a half day of weasling for everyone
- Everyone does a half day or mountain biking with a half day of caving for everyone
- We stick with the current plan of no biking and half day or weasling and caving for everyone
All scenarios will involve splitting into two groups to do the activity – we can’t do everyone in one group.
If you are coming, please will you let us know preferences before Sunday evening or we will make the decision for the group.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
