We’re only a couple of weeks into the summer break but it seems like such a long time already. We’ve got a long time to go yet but there are a couple of things we need to let you know about now.
1) Winter Term Start
Seems a little strange to be saying it in the ‘heat’ of the summer, but our Winter term starts on September 12th at 7pm. There is a LOT going on that night, read on….
2) New Members Evening
It’s the start of term and the start of a new year so we are having a New Members Evening on our first night back: Sept 12th. This is really important for us and we need your help: it will be for both Smalls and Bigs to join us to find out all about us. We are particularly keen for boys in year 6, 7 and 8 to come and visit us for the evening so if you know of anyone in this age group, please tell them about us and bring them along. Boys of any other age are welcome, but we are focussing on the year groups where we have more space. More details will be published closer to the night but please remember to advertise it with your friends and family.
The new members evening will also include a short session for parents of members who have joined in the last few months to explain all about CAG, how we work, what we do and some of the things that you don’t know that will be of interest to you. If you are a parent of a member who has joined recently and haven’t seen this before it will be very beneficial for you so please make sure you come along on on Sept 12th.
3) Dorridge Day
We’ve got a BIG involvement in Dorridge Day this year. For those that don’t know, Dorridge Day is a family fun day run by Knowle and Dorridge Round Table in Dorridge Park on Sunday September 10th, starting at midday.
We will be doing two things:
- Delivering the Dorridge Day booklets to all the houses in Knowle and Dorridge – we will be given a significant contribution from Dorridge Day profits for our work on this
- RUNNING the Fayre Ground stalls on the Day itself – that means running Tin Can Alley, Coconut Shy, Hoopla, Chuck the Sponge and all the rest. We need members to attend on the day to take the money from the paying public, run the games and hand out any prizes to winners. Any profit made from the running of the events is given to CAG, so we need all your help to make it a successful day. We need all members to attend to make it as easy and successful as possible – some additional help from parents will be a great assistance to us as well if you have time.
The booklets will be available to deliver from August 15th. There are 18 rounds to deliver so we will put members into pairs and ask them to get together to deliver the booklets. We will send an email to you shortly with the details of who your round partner is, which round you are delivering and where to collect your booklets so you can deliver them. Please look out for that email – it will arrive on or around August 15th.
That’s all for now!
Regards
